Epson L3150 waste ink counter: readings, service warnings and reset

If your Epson L3150 reports that its ink pads need service, start by checking the waste ink counter in WICRESETPRO. Counter reading and the supported reset procedure are available in the same application.

Resetting your printer is simple. Once your supported printer is connected and ready, the reset itself can take about a minute. Need a hand? Our team is here 24/7 to help you get back to printing.

Why Epson L3150 shows Service Required

The printer keeps track of waste ink generated during use and cleaning. When the counter reaches its limit, the driver may show an ink pad service warning and printing can be blocked. Read the exact error and the counters to establish whether this is the problem you need to address.

Read the warning in context

The original L3150 guide describes Service Required, The Ink Pad Needs Service and end-of-service-life messages. Keep the complete message and compare it with the finished counter reading. A factory reset or Wi-Fi reset changes a different part of the printer.

This page explains the waste ink readings and reset decision. For connection preparation and common detection problems, use the L3150 preparation and troubleshooting guide.

What you need

  • Your Epson L3150 and internet access for the application.
  • WICRESETPRO installed on your device.
  • A connection supported by the L3150 profile and the operation you want to perform.
  • A valid reset key for a full reset.

macOSmacOS 14 or later; Intel and Apple Silicon
AndroidConfirm Android requirements and supported L3150 operations in the app.

Use WICRESETPRO for Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ (Intel or Apple Silicon) or Android. Basic Epson counter reading and reset are available on all three platforms, over USB or Wi-Fi where the printer and your network provide that connection. Additional service tools have separate requirements.

Read the Epson L3150 counter

Open WICRESETPRO and select Epson L3150 from the detected printers. Use the counter reading function and wait for a completed result. If a reading is missing, check the connection and try reading again.

If the printer is not detected, check its connection and follow the guidance shown by the program. Keep the exact L3150 model selected.

Instructions

Open WICRESETPRO. Connect your Epson printer by USB or Wi-Fi and select the correct model.

  1. Read counters

Select your printer and read the waste ink counters. Wait for the percentages to appear.

  2. Reset key

Copy your complete 12-character key from the TXT attachment and paste it into the program's key field.

  3. Reset

Click Reset. Wait for the success message and 0% readings. Do not turn off the printer or disconnect USB during the reset.

  4. Restart

After a successful reset, turn the printer off using its power button. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it on again.

Need help?

Include your order number, printer model and error message. Attach a screenshot.

Resetting the counter does not replace waste ink pad maintenance.

Reset the waste ink counter

  1. Confirm that WICRESETPRO has selected your Epson L3150 and completed the counter reading.
  2. Check that the required reset is available and prepare the printer as directed by the app.
  3. Enter your valid reset key and start the supported waste ink counter reset.
  4. Keep the printer connected and wait for the application to report the result.
  5. Restart the printer if instructed, then read the counters again to verify the outcome.

If the reset reports a communication error, resolve that error before repeating the operation. If the message remains after a confirmed reset, contact our team with the error and your printer model.

Your reset key

Unused keys do not expire. After the first reset, you can reuse the key on the same printer for 24 hours. This can help if further head cleaning fills the counter again during maintenance. The reuse period does not allow the key to be used on a different printer.

Packages contain either one Multi-Key with the purchased pool or the corresponding number of separate codes. Unused units in the pool do not all expire when the first printer's 24-hour reuse period ends.

Other L3150-series model names

The original article also lists L3151, L3152, L3153, L3156 and L3158. Select the exact detected model: a family name does not establish identical firmware or available operations. Use its separate guide and profile instead of substituting L3150.

For model-dependent diagnostics and maintenance beyond the reset workflow, see ServiceToolPro.

Questions and answers

Do I need another program to read the counter?

No. WICRESETPRO includes counter reading, so the check and the supported reset can be performed in the same application.

Why should I read the counters again afterwards?

A fresh reading confirms the result reported by the application. If the printer needs to be restarted as part of the procedure, complete that step before the final check.

Can I use the same key again after cleaning the printhead?

Yes, within 24 hours of its first reset and on the same printer. That reuse allowance does not extend to another printer, even another Epson L3150.

What does the free Epson trial do?

The free Epson trial sets eligible waste ink counters to 80%. At least one supported counter must be above 95%, and server approval is required. Use a valid reset key for a full reset to zero.

Can I reset without a Windows computer?

Use WICRESETPRO for Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ or Android to read and reset Epson L3150 waste ink counters. Use USB, or Wi-Fi if the printer and your setup offer it. Additional service tools have separate requirements.
