Quick diagnosis

Epson XP-305 reset: verify, reset and confirm

1

Read the counter

Use WICRESETPRO through USB, or Wi-Fi/LAN where the printer hardware and network setup support it to confirm the XP-305 counter value before using a key.

2

Close interference

Clear print jobs and close applications that block communication. On Windows, this may include Epson Status Monitor.

3

Reset and verify

Use WICRESETPRO, restart as requested by the procedure and read the counter again to confirm 0%.

Before using a key: the printer must have no pending jobs or unrelated errors. Choose an available connection and leave only the target Epson XP-305 connected.

Understand the warning

Why Epson XP-305 shows an ink pad service message

The Epson Expression Home printer estimates waste ink sent to its maintenance pads during cleaning and priming. When the programmed threshold is reached, the printer can show Service Required, an ink pad end-of-life message or a related service code. Reading the counters first separates that condition from an unrelated paper-feed, cartridge or communication fault.

WICRESETPRO reads the available Epson counters and performs supported resets in the same application. Read first, use the supported reset, follow any requested restart and read again to verify the result. Counter reading and supported reset are available in WICRESETPRO.

Official developer

Use the official WICRESETPRO download and a key intended for this workflow, with technical support available if the program returns an error.

Reset support

Keep the program message and order details if a valid attempt fails. A failed attempt can be reviewed instead of repeating random steps.

No pre-use expiry

An unused activation key does not expire. One key is consumed by the same printer during its 24-hour access period on one supported printer.

Physical maintenance still matters: software resets the electronic counter only. If ink is leaking or the absorber/pads are saturated, clean or replace the maintenance components before continued printing.

Step-by-step procedure

Correct Epson XP-305 preparation and reset sequence

Do not put this Epson into a Canon service mode. Check detection through the chosen connection, read the counter and close processes that interfere with communication. Driver and extra service-tool requirements depend on the platform and the detected profile.

1

Prepare your platform

For XP-305, select the detected profile in WICRESETPRO on Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ (Intel or Apple Silicon), or Android. On Windows USB, install the Epson driver if maintenance communication is unavailable. Additional service functions depend on the profile and platform.

2

Choose an available connection

For Epson XP-305, use WICRESETPRO on Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ (Intel or Apple Silicon) or Android. Counter reading and reset work over USB, or Wi-Fi/LAN where the printer hardware and network setup support it. Prepare the printer and inspect the absorber before the operation.

3

Clear jobs and close Epson processes

Remove pending documents and close applications using the printer. On Windows, use the available Support / Disable processes tools if Epson Status Monitor is interfering.

4

Read the counters first

Open WICRESETPRO and read the XP-305 waste counters. This confirms the printer is visible and shows whether an ink pad counter is actually at its limit.

5

Reset in WICRESETPRO

Read the available counters in WICRESETPRO, choose the supported reset and enter a valid Pro key. Follow the requested restart, then read the counters again in the same application.

6

Restart and verify

Turn the printer off as requested by the procedure, power it on, then read the counters again in WICRESETPRO. A completed reset should show the reset counter at 0%.

Use the complete Epson reset manual, then open the free WICRESETPRO to read the counters before and after the reset.WICRESETPRO instructions Download WICRESETPRO

Requirements and common mistakes

Prepare the Epson XP-305 before activation

Required setup

  • WICRESETPRO on Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ (Intel or Apple Silicon), or Android.
  • A stable connection: USB, or Wi-Fi/LAN where the printer hardware and network setup support it. For USB, use a data cable without a hub or splitter.
  • Select the target Epson XP-305 in Pro; if troubleshooting USB, disconnect other printers.
  • No pending print documents and no unrelated printer error.
  • Stable power for the complete reset and restart.
  • A successful counter reading before activation; install any driver required for your platform and connection.

Avoid these failed attempts

  • For Wi-Fi/LAN, confirm that the printer supports networking and is detected on the same reachable network. Use USB if network communication is unavailable.
  • Use the Pro key assigned to your order.
  • Keep the selected USB or network connection and power stable while the program is writing.
  • Do not confuse a waste ink warning with a print-head or cartridge failure.
  • Do not repeat head cleaning unnecessarily after the reset.
  • Save the complete message or log before asking for support.

Verify another model in the supported printer finder.

Troubleshooting

If the Epson XP-305 reset does not start

Printer is not detected

For USB, try a direct port and a data-capable cable without hubs. For Wi-Fi/LAN, check printer networking and that the device running Pro can reach it. On Windows, check the Epson driver if USB detection fails.

The printer still shows another error

Write down the exact code and check cartridges, paper path and power status. WICRESETPRO cannot bypass an unrelated fault that prevents the printer from reaching the required maintenance state.

Warning returns after restart

Confirm that the program reported success and that the printer was switched off as requested by the procedure. Check the exact counter or error again rather than assuming every service message is the waste ink counter.

Read, reset and verify Epson XP-305

  1. Use the connection offered for your printer and operation. Select the exact model detected in WICRESETPRO.
  2. Read the available waste ink counters in WICRESETPRO and wait for a completed result. A missing reading is not a zero reading.
  3. Waste ink counter reset is supported for this model. Select that operation and follow its preparation instructions in the app.
  4. For a supported full reset, enter your valid Pro reset key and start the operation. Keep the connection stable until the app reports the result.
  5. Restart only when instructed, then read the counters again in Pro to verify the outcome.

Once a supported printer is connected and ready, the reset itself can take about a minute. Installation and preparation can take longer.

Resetting a counter does not replace physical absorber maintenance.

Your reset key

Unused keys do not expire. After the first reset, you can reuse the key on the same printer for 24 hours. Unused units in a Multi-Key pool do not all expire when that printer’s reuse period ends.

Choose one Multi-Key with the purchased pool or the corresponding number of separate codes. Check the current product, price and currency in the store.

Questions and answers

How do I reset the Epson XP-305 ink pad counter?

Read the available counters in WICRESETPRO, choose the supported reset and enter a valid Pro key. Follow the requested restart, then read the counters again in the same application.

Does Epson XP-305 need Canon service mode?

No. Canon service-mode button sequences do not apply to this Epson. Select the detected Epson in WICRESETPRO, read its available counters and follow its own preparation instructions.

Can I reset Epson XP-305 through Wi-Fi?

Epson counter reading and reset are available on Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 14+ (Intel or Apple Silicon) and Android, over USB, or Wi-Fi/LAN where the printer hardware and network setup support it. Additional service functions have their own requirements.

Which WIC program accepts the key?

Read counters and perform the supported reset in WICRESETPRO. Enter a key valid for the Pro operation in that application; a separate Utility download is not required. Use the Pro key assigned to your order.

What result should WICRESETPRO show after reset?

Wait for the completed result in WICRESETPRO, follow any requested restart and perform the control reading in Pro. Keep the before-and-after readings. A missing reading is not a zero, and a remaining error needs its own diagnosis.

Can head cleaning raise the counter again?

Yes. Cleaning sends ink to the maintenance system and can increase the counter quickly. Avoid unnecessary repeated cleaning after a reset.

Does the key expire before use?

Unused keys have no expiry date. After the first reset, the key can be reused on the same printer for 24 hours. Unused Multi-Key units remain available.

Do I need to service the physical ink pads?

The electronic reset does not clean the physical pads. If they are saturated or ink is leaking, service the maintenance system before continued use.
