Epson chipless firmware activation

ChiplessPro is the Epson chipless firmware section of WICRESETPRO for Windows. It brings device identification, compatible firmware download and activation into the application for supported printer and firmware combinations.

Check the exact model and firmware

Chipless availability depends on both the printer model and its firmware. A printer supported for waste ink counter reset is not automatically supported for chipless activation. Connect the printer by USB and use the compatibility information shown for the chipless procedure.

Download and activate compatible firmware

WICRESETPRO can read the device identifier, provide the matching chipless firmware and generate activation using the appropriate purchased key. Follow the model-specific sequence shown in the application to install and activate the firmware.

The activation belongs to the matching printer. Use the device information from that printer and the firmware selected for its supported profile.

Keep your activation file

Save the activation to a file so that it is available for the same printer later. The module can load a saved activation for the matching device when the supported workflow calls for it, including a supported recovery process after a return to original Epson firmware.

Keep the activation file with your printer records. Compatibility with a future firmware version must still be checked in the application.

The documented chipless module is available in WICRESETPRO for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit, through USB. Use the Windows application for this workflow.

Questions and answers

Does chipless activation reset the waste ink counter?

These are different operations. Chipless activation changes the supported firmware configuration. Waste ink counters use their own reading and reset procedures in WICRESETPRO.

Is every Epson printer supported?

No. Chipless activation is available only for selected models with compatible firmware. Check the exact model and firmware for this operation, even if the printer is supported for other WICRESETPRO functions.

Can I use the chipless module on a Mac or Android device?

The chipless workflow described here is provided in the Windows version through USB. The availability of other WICRESETPRO versions does not extend this module to those platforms.

Can I save my activation and load it again?

Yes. The application can save an activation file and load it again for the matching printer when supported by the firmware workflow. An activation file from another printer must not be used.

Which key do I need for chipless activation?

Use a key that is valid for the chipless activation operation offered for your printer. If you already have a key and need to check its scope, contact support with your order number and printer model before buying another one.
