Canon E560 Reset: Understand 1702 and 5B02
Before trying a Canon E560 reset, read the number shown on your computer. An early absorber warning, a service error and a cartridge problem are not the same job.
Absorber warning
1702Plan the next step.
The E560 manual describes an ink absorber that is almost full. Acknowledging this warning does not service the absorber.
Service error
5B02Check before resetting.
Canon directs you to a service center for this code. Confirm the fault and software-reset requirements rather than continuing blindly.
Different problem?
CheckKeep the exact code.
Do not treat ink-level, cartridge, paper-feed or connection problems as evidence that the waste ink counter needs resetting.
Read the E560, not a generic guide
One changed digit can mean a different instruction.
Canon lists 1702, 1703, 1704, 1705 and further warning variants for the E560 series. Its service-error list includes 5B02, 5B03, 5B04 and 5B05, among others. The useful starting point is the complete code your printer actually reports.
For 1702, Canon allows you to continue by pressing the Black or Color button and advises contacting a service center. For 5B02, the stated action is to contact the service center. These instructions should not be confused with the WIC Reset Connect procedure.
Prepare before paying
Four checks before you use a reset key.
Model and fault
E560 appears in our supported model list. Confirm that the error you are addressing is appropriate for the supported waste ink counter reset.
Windows and USB
Use a Windows computer and a direct USB cable. Keep other printers disconnected while preparing this one.
Correct service mode
Follow the Canon service-mode guide for your model. Stop and ask for help if the printer will not enter the expected state.
Physical absorber condition
A software operation cannot remove stored waste ink. Include absorber inspection and servicing in the repair decision.
Once the printer is ready
Use WIC Reset Connect for the E560 reset.
Keep the preparation guide beside you. A normal power restart and a service-mode reset are different operations.
Download and prepare
Download WIC Reset Connect from our website. Complete the USB and Canon service-mode preparation before entering a key.
Enter your activation key
Open Connect and paste the full purchased key into the Token field. Use the key only when the E560 is ready for the supported reset.
Run the operation without interruption
Select Reset and wait for the program result. Do not disconnect the cable or switch the printer off while the reset is running.
Restart after success
Turn the printer off for ten seconds after a successful result, then turn it back on. Check the original code again before attempting normal printing.
Questions, answered
Canon E560: common reset questions
Why does this E560 guide mention 1702 and 5B02 rather than 1700 and 5B00?
Canon’s E560-series documentation lists codes including 1702 and 5B02, with further related variants. Use the exact support code on your computer instead of assuming the numbers in another Canon guide apply.
Can I keep printing when the E560 shows 1702?
Canon’s instruction for 1702 allows you to press Black or Color to continue printing and advises contacting a service center. Acknowledging the warning is not the same as resetting the waste ink counter or servicing the absorber.
Do I enter the reset key before service mode?
Prepare the E560 and confirm the correct Canon service mode first. Enter the key in WIC Reset Connect only after the printer is ready for the reset operation.
Will an absorber reset fix an unrecognised cartridge?
No. Treat cartridge detection or ink-level problems separately. A waste ink counter reset is not a substitute for diagnosing an unrelated printer fault.
Is the Canon E560 resetter software free to download?
WIC Reset Connect is free to download. A supported reset requires a paid key. Check the model, reported code and service-mode preparation before purchasing.
What should I send when I need E560 support?
Send the exact E560 model name, the complete support code, a screenshot and your order number when available. Describe what happens during service-mode preparation; do not post your full reset key publicly.
Your next step
E560 ready? Choose your key.
Use the key only after checking the error and service mode. The software download and the reset licence are separate.
Check the current price and currency in the store. A key is for one reset.
