Do not put this Epson into a Canon service mode. The important checks are the Epson driver, USB communication, counter reading and removal of background processes that can block the reset.
Install the Epson driver
Use the original Epson driver for the T20E. A generic Windows driver can print normally yet still block maintenance communication.
Use one direct USB connection
Connect only the Epson T20E to a motherboard USB port. Do not use Wi-Fi, a hub or a splitter, and disconnect other Epson or Canon devices.
Clear jobs and close Epson processes
Remove pending documents. In WIC Reset Utility open Support, use Disable processes and terminate Status Monitor before the reset if it is interfering.
Read the counters first
