Canon service mode – how to enter service mode and reset error 5B00 / 1700
When a Canon printer shows errors such as 5B00, 1700 or “ink absorber full / waste ink counter full”, you must first enter Canon service mode. Only then can you reset the waste ink counter with the WIC Reset Connect program and make the printer ready to print again.

How to use this Canon service mode guide
Every Canon series uses a slightly different sequence of buttons. In most cases you hold the POWER button and press the RESET, STOP nebo HOME button a specific number of times. Follow the instructions exactly – if the printer does not enter service mode, switch it off completely, unplug the power cord for 10–15 seconds and try again.
Canon – E, G, IB, MB, TS, TR series
This is one of the most common Canon methods of entering service mode for E, G, IB, MB, TS and TR printers.
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but keep holding the POWER button.
- While still holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 5 times.
- After the 5th press, wait a moment and then release the POWER button. The printer should now be in service mode.
Canon – MG series
Use this procedure for most Canon MG printers when you need to enter service mode to reset the waste ink counter.
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to power on).
- Release the RESET button but keep holding the POWER button.
- While still holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 6 times. For models without scanner, also press it 6 times.
- After the last press, wait a moment and then release the POWER button – the printer should enter service mode.
Canon – MP series
Many Canon MP printers use the following combination to enter service mode.
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but continue to hold the POWER button.
- While holding POWER, press and release the RESET button the required number of times: usually 2 times, and for some models without scanner 6 times.
- After pressing RESET the correct number of times, wait a moment and then release the POWER button – the printer should be in service mode.
Canon – G4010 / G4210 / G4410 / G4411
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but keep holding the POWER button.
- While holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 6 times (for printers without scanner also 6 times).
- After the 6th press, wait a moment before releasing the POWER button.
Canon – G1411 / G2411 / G3411
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the “+” (plus) button.
- While holding the “+” button, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the “+” button but keep holding the POWER button.
- While still holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 5 times.
- After the 5th press, wait a moment and then release the POWER button – the printer should be in service mode.
Canon – iP3600 series, iP4600 series, MP240 series, MP550 series
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but keep holding the POWER button.
- While still holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 2 times.
- After the 2nd press, wait a moment and then release the POWER button – the printer should enter service mode.
If your printer has a touchscreen, hold down the area on the screen where the Resume/Cancel button is usually shown instead of a physical button.
Canon – iP2700 series, iP4800 series, MG5100 series
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button.
- While holding RESET, press and hold the POWER button (wait for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but continue holding the POWER button.
- While still holding POWER, press and release the RESET button 5 times.
- After the 5th press, wait a moment and then release the POWER button – the printer should be in service mode.
For printers with touchscreens, hold down the part of the screen where the Resume/Cancel button usually appears.
Canon – MG8150
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Cancel button (on touch models hold the area on the screen where the Resume/Cancel button is displayed).
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Release the Cancel (or Resume) button but keep holding the Power button.
- Wait 5–10 seconds, then press the Cancel button 5 times.
- Release the Power button – the printer should now be in service mode.
Canon – TS8000 series
TS8010, TS8020, TS8040, TS8050, TS8030, TS8052, TS8053, TS8060, TS8070
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the HOME button (on touchscreens hold the area in the upper left corner of the display).
- While holding HOME, press and hold the Power button.
- Release the HOME button but keep holding the Power button.
- Press the Cancel button (upper right corner) 5 times.
- Release the Power button – the printer should enter service mode.
Canon – TS9100 series
TS9100, TS9110, TS9120, TS9140, TS9150, TS9155, TS9160, TS9170
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the HOME button (on touch models hold the top left corner of the screen).
- While holding HOME, press and hold the Power button.
- Release the HOME button but keep holding Power.
- Press the Cancel button 6 times.
- Release the Power button – the printer should now be in Canon service mode.
