FAQ – Canon service mode & WIC Reset Connect

How do I enter service mode on my Canon printer?

The key combination depends on the printer series. On this page you will find separate instructions for Canon E, G, IB, MB, TS, TR, MG, MP, G4010, G1411, iP3600, iP2700, MG8150, TS8000 and TS9100 series. Can WIC Reset Connect fix Canon error 5B00 / 1700?

Yes. If your Canon model is supported, entering service mode and running WIC Reset Connect with a valid reset key will clear the teller inktafval and remove errors such as 5B00, 1700 and other ink absorber full messages.

Is Canon service mode safe to use?

Service mode is an internal Canon maintenance mode. It is safe if you only follow the documented key sequence and use it to reset the ink absorber with WIC Reset Connect. Do not change random options in service mode – switch the printer off with the power button after the reset and turn it on again.

The printer does not enter service mode – what should I do?

Turn the printer off, unplug the power cable for 10–15 seconds and try again. Check if you are using the correct method for your series and pressing the buttons in the right order and number of times. For some older models you must follow the STOP button press table at the bottom of this page.
