  • Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable. Leave the power cable connected.
  • Finish any print jobs and close other programs using this printer.
  • POWER means the power button (ON). STOP means the stop or cancel control, also labelled RESET or RESUME/CANCEL.

Enter service mode

  1. Turn the printer off with POWER and wait until it has switched off.
  2. Press and hold STOP.
  3. While holding STOP, press and hold POWER. Wait until the indicator lights.
  4. Release STOP. Keep holding POWER.
  5. While holding POWER, press and release STOP exactly 5 times.
  6. Release POWER.

After entering service mode

  • Wait for the printer to finish starting. In WICRESETPRO, choose Find printers and check the connection.
  • Read the counters after entering service mode. Entering this mode does not reset the counters.

Keep the USB connection stable. Continue with the reset only after WICRESETPRO detects the printer in the required mode. If detection fails, stop and ask for help with your exact model.

How do I enter service mode on my Canon printer?

Find your exact model in the instructions above. Follow only its documented sequence. If the source is incomplete or conflicting, ask support to verify it; do not try another model’s procedure.

Can WICRESETPRO fix Canon error 5B00 / 1700?

Read the complete message in its original context and the available counters. A supported waste ink reset addresses the relevant counter-limit condition. It does not repair paper-feed, cartridge or network faults; the same short code can mean something different on a network report.

Is Canon service mode safe to use?

Use the preparation for the exact Canon model and selected operation. Basic reset support is shown in Find Printer. Keep USB and power stable; service-mode entry itself does not reset a counter.

The printer does not enter service mode – what should I do?

Check the exact detected model, USB data cable and the preparation displayed by WICRESETPRO. If it differs from an older reference, save the message and ask support to resolve the difference. Do not try a different model’s button sequence.
